John Beede is one of fewer than 400 people worldwide to summit the 'Seven Summits', which includes Mount Everest. But what makes him exceptional as a speaker isn't his achievements—it's his ability to translate high-altitude lessons into strategies that students can use immediately.
His journey began with a simple question: "What am I truly capable of?" That question led him from being an awkward high school kid with terrible acne, to eventually standing atop the world's highest peaks. Along the way, he discovered powerful truths about resilience, goal setting, confidence, grit, and the power of teamwork —the exact skills students need to thrive.
Featured on 60 Minutes, The Weather Channel, and TEDx, John delivers presentations that combine gripping stories with evidence-based strategies that change the lives of middle school, high school, and college students.

Not just motivation—actionable frameworks students can use today.
*John also offers teacher-in-service, educator trainings, and advisor sessions.

20+ Years Experience Motivating Students Around the Globe

John delivers actionable strategies students can apply immediately to their academics, school culture, clubs and organizations, athletics, and personal growth.
The exact framework John used to climb Everest—applied to academic goals, college applications, and career planning.
How to bounce back from failure, rejection, and setbacks (critical for college admissions, job applications, and life)
Techniques for silencing negative self-talk and building genuine confidence in the face of massive challenges.
Practical tools for handling stress, test anxiety, social pressure, and overwhelm over the long-term.
Leadership skills learned at 29,000 feet, where the consequences are high and every second counts.
How to build teams that work - and how to work effectively with others, even when conflicts arise
John teaches students that the mountains they climb aren't made of rock and ice—they're the challenges faced in school, relationships, and personal growth. The same resilience strategies that kept him alive at 29,000 feet help students push through difficult coursework, handle rejection, overcome test anxiety, and build genuine confidence.
John uses his worldwide adventure stories to teach high-altitude success principles to teenagers. In 20+ years of delivering motivational presentations and trainings, he has influenced close to 1 million live audience members.
The goal-setting, resilience, and leadership strategies he learned in the mountains aren't hair-brained ideas thought up by some random mountain man; every principle and concept he teaches is supported by the latest peer-reviewed research and/or psychological studies.
The adventure stories are simply the attention-getter for the more important messages of success, motivation, and resilience principles.
John has traveled to 71 countries and every continent. He competes in international kitesurfing events, has been indirectly struck by lighting, attacked by a 5-foot iguana, and once did the hokey-pokey in the eye of a hurricane. He's been swimming with Hammerhead, Great White, and Whale sharks. He was even trapped in the Indonesian jungle between warring tribes and the world’s largest goldmine. We don't know how he keeps getting into these situations, but they sure make for great stories in speeches!
Along with speaking and writing, John is a business builder, investor, and web marketer. He currently operates from Henderson, Nevada, USA, in order to be close to family (and great access to climbing!)
John Beede is a keynote speaker who has given motivational presentations in 49 states and 7 countries. His presentations are based on his climbs to the tops of the tallest mountain on every continent, including Mount Everest. The success principles he teaches are based on real-life experiences.
